Blake comes to Charlotte from WDSU-TV in New Orleans where he worked as a general assignment and investigative reporter. Shortly after arriving in the Crescent City he covered the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Isaac where he reported live for CNN and NBC News.
His reporting on Isaac, in part, earned him second place in the Associated Press Reporter of the Year awards. He also earned a regional Edward R. Murrow award as part of the team that covered the arrival of the Carnival Cruise ship “Triumph” that was stranded at sea for days. Most recently, he spent months covering the federal corruption trial of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
Blake’s first television news job was at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo. while simultaneously attending college at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
A Minnesota native, Blake’s body has slowly adjusted to southern heat over the past several years but he hasn’t lost his passion for the often sub-par Minnesota professional sports teams.
In his spare time he enjoys running, working out and exploring the great outdoors.
